Alden Rowing Shells
The Alden Ocean Shell Single and Double have been the most popular recreational shells in the world for over thirty years, designed by Arthur Martin and built in Maine. Both these shells and the 16' Appledore ($2860) feature Oarmaster II rigging - instantly removed for simple transport, yet stiff, efficient, and easily adjusted. The 22' Star ($2800) is a state-of-the-art open water racing shell, the Alden 26 ($3500), a flat water racng shell.
Construction
Hand laid fiberglass with positive foam floatation. White hull with white, green, blue decks for Alden Ocean Shells. The 18 pound Oarmaster II wing rigger is black anodized marine grade aluminum with sealed bearing seat wheels.
Alden 16 Single
It delivers satisfying speed and can be rowed by anyone, anywhere at any time. The flared bow lifts the boat over waves, and the flat bottom provides stability. No skeg for easy beach launching. The manageable weight and length make it easy to transport. The perfect personal recreational shell for those under 190 pounds.

Alden 18 Double
The most versatile open water rowing shell. It offers all the benefits of the Alden 16 plus the ability to set up for double or single rowing. Row with a partner, take a passenger, or row by yourself. Uses the same exclusive hull design but is a bit longer with a stiffening section to maintain rigidity when loaded. The large cockpit has extra space for storage and touring. The increased stabilty make it a great single for those over 190 pounds.
